Information About Asthma
INFORMATION ON ASTHMA:- YOUNG PEOPLE
Asthma in the young is usually noticed by the parents when a child begins to cough, wheeze or even be short of breath when running around. The child is then taken to see their G.P., who might suggest that the symptoms could be Asthma. With today's knowledge and medicines, normally Asthma is controlled but NOT cured. A high percentage of young people who suffer from Asthma grow out of it in their teens if they have had the correct medication.
INFORMATION ON ASTHMA:- THE ELDERLY
Specialists in Respiratory problems
have made progress into finding solutions to control Asthma but there is
still a long way to go until they can eradicate it.
It must be noted that elderly
people who suffer from Asthma are at high risk as Asthma can be a killer.
The last survey shows that the mortality rate has gone down in hospitals.
This is an encouragement to those who suffer from Asthma.
There is a large amount of elderly
people who suffer from Asthma late in life. As a doctor stated, Asthma can
lie dormant through most of ones life, then it appears. It may be connected
to stress or some crisis in ones life.
Doctors and Nurses are aware of
medicines which can help to keep Asthma at such a low level that it does not
interfere with the normal active life of the patient (in most cases).
We at Asthma Relief are keen to help as many sufferers as possible and are working with Doctors and Respiratory Nurses to this end.
INFORMATION ON ASTHMA:- EVERY DAY
Many people have to live with
Asthma. Some who are on the fringe use inhalers prescribed by their G.P.
Some areas in the British Isles are
more prone to the development of Asthma than others, which could suggest air
pollution.
Some people develop Asthma as a
hereditary illness, being passed on down through the family.
Sometimes along with Asthma, comes
Eczema. This is an extra burden that some Asthmatics have to bear.
What we at Asthma Relief are trying
to do is to make the Asthmatics quality of life much better. By donating
nebulisers into hospitals and Doctors surgeries, it will be much easier for
them to get the necessary medicines.
We do donate nebulisers to individuals but only with a G.P.'s authorisation.
